House of Goods review template

House of Goods runs a portfolio of digital brands, and every quarter founders present numbers using four different homemade decks, wasting review time on formatting instead of substance. This project builds one authoritative Google Slides template, master slides locked, so every founder tells the same story in the same language. Elegant, corporate, and built to survive contact with people who are not designers.

Overview & Goals

  • Replace four inconsistent quarterly deck formats with a single reusable template
  • Standardize the funnel and unit economics charts so reviewers read numbers instantly, not decode them
  • Lock layouts with real master slides so founders cannot drag, resize, or improvise new structure
  • Ship a filled example deck with fictional numbers so founders copy a working reference, not a blank template

Budget & Timeline

Work begins now with layout and chart design, moves into building the locked master slides, then finishes with the fictional example deck filled in first so the template itself is proven before Q4 reviews start.

Target Audience

The audience is internal: founders of House of Goods portfolio companies who present quarterly results to the studio. They are busy operators, not designers, and they need a format that tells them exactly what to fill in and where.

In the client's own words

Every brand in the portfolio presents its quarter to us, and every one of them builds those slides from nothing. The result is four sets of numbers in four visual languages, and we spend the first ten minutes of each review working out how to read the chart. We want one reusable template with the standard slides already in it: the funnel, the unit economics, the experiment log, the ask. Built so a founder who is not a designer cannot make it ugly.

Scope & Deliverables

  • Google Slides master file with locked master slides for every layout
  • Twelve required slides covering funnel, unit economics, experiment log, and ask
  • Five optional slides for cases outside the standard review
  • One dedicated chart style for the funnel and one for unit economics, used nowhere else
  • A fully filled example deck with fictional numbers, ready to duplicate and edit

Do's & Don'ts

Do

  • Build genuine master slides so layouts cannot be pulled out of place by accident
  • Design exactly one chart style for the funnel and one for unit economics, and stop there
  • Use only fonts native to Google Slides so nothing breaks on someone else's machine
  • Keep the current palette so the template feels native to House of Goods immediately

Don't

  • Do not ship empty placeholder slides, they get filled with whatever is closest to hand
  • Do not introduce new layouts beyond the twelve fixed slides and five optional ones
  • Do not rely on installed fonts or embedded assets that break outside the studio's setup
